The prayer ministry at First Methodist Church of Azle includes a laity driven program of prayer at many levels. We provide Prayer Shawls and Prayer Quilts, prayed over during worship, for those with specific needs. Our members are encouraged to pray for one another each week, and we have a weekly prayer list shared by email and in worship.
Prayer requests can be made to the church office at any time. There are Prayer Request cards in the worship services that can be placed in the offering plate or handed to a staff member. Prayer requests can be kept private or shared on the prayer list. Anyone can submit a prayer request.
Different members of the church pray for the pastor each week in worship before the sermon. We believe in the power of prayer and asking God’s touch upon our pastor.
The Prayer Team lifts up prayer concerns each week for those on the weekly prayer lists and for other needs that arise.
Please contact the church office if you would like more information about the prayer ministry or if you have a prayer need.
Prayer Quilt and Prayer Shawl Ministry
What is a Prayer Quilt?
The Prayer Quilt ministry provides hand-made quilts to people going through a difficult time in their lives. Each quilt is lovingly made and then shared in worship and prayed over by the congregation. Strings are attached to each quilt and are tied together as a tangible symbol of prayer by each person who prays. The quilts are made for members and friends of the church family.
What is a Prayer Shawl?
Our Prayer Shawl Ministry provides knitted and crocheted Prayer Shawls for members facing a crisis or special challenge in their life. The Prayer Shawls are hand-made by members of the church and each one is prayed over before being given to the recipient. The group also makes blankets for infant baptisms.
Who receives a Prayer Quilt or Prayer Shawl?
Prayer Quilts are a statement of faith and a testimony to our belief in God and in the power of prayer. This ministry provides Prayer Quilts and Prayer Shawls for infants, children, youth, and adults. They are presented to members and friends of the church family. Please contact the church office if you would like more information.
